I'm looking for a scenic cycle route starting from Withington. I don't mind where to, but it would be nice to get off the main roads at some point. My bike is a 20" wheel folder, but has chunky tyres and front & rear suspension, so while It won't get me up any massive hills, it'll handle light trail work. Oh, and I'm just getting back into cycling, so nothing more than 8-10 miles please.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've checked the mapped routes on here, and they all seem to focus on major roads such as Princess Parkway.

Thanks.

Sorry mate can't really help you there! But all I can say is I'm getting back on the saddle after many years too, should be fun, but a little painful I should imagine haha. Hopefully get the bike back from a service next week sometime, can't wait. Just hope the sun's still out by then and get a good few miles out there.

Are you working upto the Manc / Blackpool run in July by any chance?

Haha, no way. I'm too massively out of shape. Just hoping to get out & about on the old push-iron a bit more :D

No no no, ...give it a couple of month of pushing the iron and you'll be fit as a butchers dog mate :)

Should be getting mine back tomorrow? Couple of days off and all being well the sun will be shining :)

See you in Blackpool :D

The Trans Penine Trail passes through Fallowfield, near Sainsbury. That'll give you plenty of road without cars. I live around there too and while I'm not super-fit, I am out regularly so can show you if you need.
