I am a begginer although i do go out on my bike sometimes. Ive got to do the 300 mile bike ride in July and really need to start getting some miles under my belt before then. Also if you know of any groups that go out of a weekend that would be really useful as well. Thanks :-) |

One piece of advice i would give this - put the miles in now, it's supposed to be a ride for all abilities but believe me there are some tough hills between London & Paris. Myself and my brother started off doing just a few miles, then each time we went out we increased our miles by 10-20% until we were comfortably doing 50 miles. Leading up to the date we ensured that we were able to to 50-60 miles back to back over a weekend and as many miles as we could through the week, work permitting. We also got in touch with other people doing the ride and put a few miles in with them to, a great way to break the ice and ensure you know people before the ride. I would also strongly recommend getting in touch with a good local bike shop, there great for advice, cycle routes and all of your energy drinks, we used Fred Williams in Wolverhampton, they also gave us some discount as we were completing for charity. Overall a fantastic experience go and enjoy ! |
