Hi All

I need to cycle from Euston Station to Crystal Palace and although I've mapped on Google & Bikeroutetaster I thought it would be worth asking the experts where to avoid etc?

Appreciate any help

Chers

I've done that route loads of times to get home.

It's not an easy route if you're unfit, but if you love hills (and I do) it's actually great fun. I do the picturesque version via dulwich.

I do Euston to Holborn Station, down to the Strand and cross Waterloo Bridge. After that head towards Elephant & Castle roundabout.

From there head towards Camberwell/Denmark Hill. Going up Denmark Hill is the first challenging hill but it's short so you can power up it. Then there are two options. You can take a left down Sunray Avenue which I personally like or go down to half-moon for a less pretty (but slightly faster) route.

Sunray: Go down the hill and keep going straight all the way until you get to RedPostHill. Take a left and go through Dulwich village - lovely village feel. Keep going until you hit college road where you'll pass by Dulwich College. Then you'll hit the toll section. You can admire the houses but just past Syndenham Hill station is a tough hill. Keep going to the top and you reach Crystal Palace Parade. It's a nice fast route to the end.

If you want an easier ride, don't do sunray, but after denmark hill keep going until you get to the junction of Herne Hill Station. I find this bit a little mad with the cars but take it slowly. Take a left on to Croxted Road and follow until you hit a big roundabout. There are two choices here, Dulwich Park Road or Gypsy Hill. They are both fairly steep so take your pick (I like Dulwich Park Road which is more intense hill but shorter). Either way you end up on Crystal Palace Parade.
