Cambridge to Dover avoiding London

Please can anyone help me!! I am planning a charity solo bike ride from Cambridge to Paris and back. My main problem is from Cambridge to Dover as i desperately want to avoid London if at all possible. Does anyone have a route or possible suggestions about a route. Many thanks, Colin

Cambridge - Chipping Ongar - Tilbury (ferry) Gravesend-Dover?

There is a ferry that runs from Tilbury to Gravesend. Tilbury is on the North side of the Thames estuary, Gravesend on the South. I would have thought there is a cycle navigable route from Chipping Ongar to Tilbury.

Failing that Chipping Ongar to the Woolwich ferry across the Thames would skirt through the 'burbs and put you right on the Dover Road (Shooters Hill).

You are a true star. I didnt expect a reply so soon if at all. I have been over and over the road atlas many times looking for a route that avoided london. I also was unsure if i could go over the bridge near the dartford tunnel or not. Again many many thanks for the route, you have saved me from a big headache. Colin

We are planning a Cambridge to Paris and would be very grateful if someone would give us and idea of how they got on Cambridge - Dover...

We currently have no idea of a decent route down avoiding London and any roads we shouldn't go on!

Hi Colin

Our cycle club in bedfordshire is doing a Bedford to Paris ride in June.
Some of the riders did this last year from Flitwick to Paris.
If you take uo the 2 weeks free trial offer you should be able to access the routes we are using along with the hotels.
