Hi me and some friends are wanting to plan a cycle trip and we have about 7-8 days to fit it in to, we are based in bristol. One possible route i had thought up would be to go to portsmouth then ferry to le havre, cycle to st. Malo and then ferry back to portsmouth, 90miles to portmouth, and roughly 250miles in france following the coast line, then 90miles back. Any advice on a route to take from bristol to portsmouth would be greatly appreciated as we would like to avoid the A36 ideally, and use small roads, and if anyone has any advice on the french coast line and things to see/do/avoid that would also be appreciated
Thanks :)

Hello!

I am brazilian and always wanted to go on a cycle trip through England. I lived im Portsmouth in 2007 and since i am completely in love with England. I have hollydays off work only on December 2012 and want to join you on this adventure. I would like to know if is this a good time to a cycle trip despite the winter. When is the best time to take this trip and when are you planning to do it?

Thank you very much

Hi for Uk maps use http://www.cyclestreets.net/ gives you a good choice of varied routes

I would recommend booking a cabin makes the long ferry journey comfortable .

The French side is easy peasy however loads of rolling climbs the weather is always variable in Brittany so the best time not to get soaked is July august otherwise rains alot well it did when I went in July last year.
If you are looking for bike friendly b&B theres a really good British Owned one in La rance near to Dinan
