I have planned a route eastbourne to southampton thats go past Brighton and Portsmouth. I havent cycled it yet but you are more than welcome to have a look. If you do cycle it and would love some information on what it was like. The route is call Eastbourne to Weston Super-Mare via the new forest part A.

Hi,

Sorry I don't know a route, but I came across a charity ride from Eastbourne to Winchester across the South Downs, which sounded quite interesting. Unfortunately entrance fee and minimum charity donations amounted to £140.

However, I wouldn't mind giving it a go without the charity, maybe over two days or a more leisurely 3 day mini break. (I live in Basingstoke so which is about 20miles from Winchester), Does anyone no any good cycle routes across that area or bike friendly places to stay.

Regards

Martin

We cycled Havant to Brighton and back last summer along the coast on road bikes. It is a nice ride and only hits an a road for a short while. It is mainly coastal and B-Roads and avoids the really busy A259 between Chichester and Bognor (horrible horrible horrible). The cycle path along Worthing seafront was much clearer than I was expecting after reading other comments about stones from the beach.

All in all a nice ride - I have routed it at http://www.mapmyride.com/route/gb/portsmouth/917126384409337859

Enjoy the ride.
