My Profile
Hi can any body help please? I cycle very regularly but for the last 6 months on and off I have had pain (more burning than actual pain) in my left shoulder only. If I keep lifting up off the bars all the time, it's not so bad but doing that interupts my flow. It seems as if the bike fit is ok had a bike fit when I bought it. Any tips, help of advise would be very much appreciated. I read loads but nothing seems to work. As soon as I stop riding within 2-3 mins it's eased.

Hi Dino,
sorry to hear about the shoulder pain, it is probably caused by over tightness of pec minor a muscle on the front of the chest which attaches to the scapula. The shoulder and up to the neck will respond correct this postural imbalance by these muscles fatigue and cause pain as a symptom.

I see a lot of this inmy sports injury clinic from those who have desk jobs and have rounded shoulders but as a keen cyclist myself I know the pain well. Stretching off pec minor will be the key to removing your postural pain. Have a look at my web site and if you want more advice email me directly. www.paulskidmore-therapies.co.uk

kind regards
Paul
