Hi,

As we all know, cycling winds your hamstrings up really tight and personally, I find it hard to touch my toes. My question is; is this really a problem? Is it better to have tight hamstings for cycling? What injuries might tight hamstrings lead to? I've started building some hamstring stretches into my training but am I just wasting my time? Intuitively I think that tight hamstrings must be bad but I just want it explained a little further.

Thanks!

Hello,

I'm no expert, but i know a little. It's best for muscles not to be to tight that they restrict movement, but tight enough that they work effectivly. If you are not having any problems with your hamstrings just now then don't change what you are doing. But they start to give you bother then increase the amout of stretches you are doing and they should feel better.

Hope that helps.
