NEWBIE and cycling with kids

I want to start cycling with my five year old daughter and am looking for routes around the North Yorkshire area, which would be suitable for us both. We are both quite adventurous!
Just not sure how to go about finding routes and/or groups to participate with.
I am also interested in finding a group for myself to join.
