I love to cycle tour, often with tent, and would love to have a buddy to travel with. I am neither fast nor furious (40 miles seems nice) and I like to explore on route, be it standing stones, climbing a local mountain or paddling on the beach. I enjoy cycling in the UK and abroad and would love to set up some adventures, perhaps cyling in cuba, or across tibet or armenia ... or .... . I am in my mid 40s.

Hi Alice,

I actually went ahead and bought a lightweight tent last summer but did not get round to start touring again, even without the tent.
I'm 40's in both categories too and certainly prefer to take in the scenery en-route.
There is quite a lot of Britain and Ireland that I have also not yet toured.
I don't know why but much of Britain's standing stones seem to have ended up in Orkney.

I've posted an email contact if you wish to discuss things further NorthIslesTour@gmail.com

Hi Alice

i just got given a lightweight tent for my Christmas and it looks great!

I d been looking at them recently because i m just trying to get into cycle touring/cycle-camping. Although i ve been cycling for a while, mainly commuting to and from work and the odd long-ish Sunday run (30/40 miles) but I would love to get the time to go further a field and camp!

I live in Scotland and have done a few day trips here and there.

I am in my late 30s.

I hope you don't mind if I expand this thread.

I've now managed to work round a long term injury which for me means 2011 was certainly a very great year.
So if anyone is looking to do some touring/day rides, maybe starting from Newcastle do drop me a line.
Although I really do prefer and do scenic climbs, practicality means I often gravitate to gentler routes along the river.

I've also assigned time to do a C2C with light camping sometime around a mild mid-March. It might involve a flat route west with a 'play it by ear' followed by a more interesting west to east route. This in fact will be my first cycle tour in 4 years.

well i plan to start my cycle tour around a monastery in Belgium
i guess i will be going on my own since i can find no buddies yet to go along
i will not ride hard
only perhaps 20 miles per day and it will be very flexible
going along and stopping when i want to or if i am part of a we, where we plan to.
i want to go from belgium to holland and over to germany and france
this may take up to a year or more
i don't care. i want to visit as many sacred sites as i can along the way
and when a village or town beckons to stay a few days--in other words, a very free spirited tour
anybody want to come along for all or part of this
let me know
