I haven't cycled abroard before - does anyone have any advice about the best way to go about it - hire bikes out there / go with one of the companies offering an all inclusive deal like Headwater / Do it all yourself? Hints and tips very gratefully received. Kate |

What kit do you plan to carry? Again, your own bike will be set-up the way you want with rack and/or trailer. I've never ridden in Italy but have toured France extensively, and Spain and Holland to a lesser extent. I'd imagine you'd have no problems if you ride here! Get everything(kit, etc) right and you'll have the adventure of a lifetime, without having to worry about reliability issues/preventable mechanicals, etc. Yes, curveballs will come your way, and at the time you might ask "this is meant to be a holiday?", but ultimately you'll look back and be very very glad you did it! By going on a supported trip you negate some of the 'bad times' but IMO, you'll also lose some of the 'magical times'. Best of luck! |

These were just single day excursions, but they were enjoyable and relatively cheap. I am thinking about hiring a bike in March for a week and taking an unguided tour. Currently in the process of shopping around... Regards Al |
