Southamton To Cambridge route?!

Joined: 30 May 2011 Posts: 2 Bike: | Hi everyone, i work at John Lewis and we are planning a cycle mission for Charity from our Southampton store to our Cambridge store. Now i have trawled Google for a set route and have had no luck! so i was wondering if anyone might know of one, or at least now someone that might!! ? Many Thanks Toby |

Joined: 16 Jan 2009 Posts: 498 Bike: My Profile | if you use a website like bikeroutetoaster.com, you can set the parameters you are looking for. On the right, click on OSM (for ordnance survey base map) then click 'bike' click on your start point and then end point, and it will plot a route avoiding the more major roads. If you want to make specific stops, add them in on the way. you can edit the route by pulling the 'thread' then click on 'summary' top left, and it will give you distance, and a graph of the gradient of the route (hills!) i use it alot. great site |

Joined: 17 Jul 2010 Posts: 74 Bike: My Profile | From London to Cambridge consider National Cycle route 1 to Harlow and then Route 11 to Cambridge, Route 1 is brilliant as its Traffic free in its entirity to near Harlow. Route 11 is not yet complete so you would need to use some busier roads North of Harlow to Stansted but it then becomes quiet back roads or Traffic free over the last section in North Essex / South Cambs, although there are some long hills, which you won't be able to miss regardless of which route you take due to the topography. Its not fabulously well signposted in places so you will need good maps |
