Up grading gears

Bike:

Hi all. I have been given a Specialized Allez 16 from a friend but am struggling going up hills. It is a spare for me for the winter as I ride a cube gt pro 105 compact as a main bike which is easy to go up hills. I'm wondering, is it costly to put a 9 or a 10 cassette on the rear or even practical, i have no idea at all and am fairly new to cycling.cheers all Mark

My Profile 		Its best to stick to the same number of gears, as adding more means much larger expense. Most standard set ups will allow you to change just the rear cassette of cogs for another set with slightly lower gears without spending more than about £50. Most bike shops can advise on this.
