Hi im new to cycling and havent been on a bike for over 20 years.
I have decided to try it to keep fit after having to stop going to the gym due to a recurring shoulder injury.
The advice im looking for is i have purchased a second hand Claud Butler Chinook off Ebay for £150 which has road tyres on. Can i change these for off road tyres and if thats possible do i have to change the wheels as well or can i put them on the existing ones.

Hi there
First hope the injury to your shoulder is better, You can change the tyre's quite easily, there are many options if the rims are 26",27" or 700C you could look at the range of cross cycling tyres. Most good cycle shops/online stores will have these.

Hope this has been of help.

Nope its still painful but only when i lift it which is one of the reasons why i have decided to try cycling to keep me fit.
The chap i purchased the bike off said they were 28" wheels would it still be ok to fit cyclocross tyres on wheels of this size.
