Leave the rain behind and set off on a unique ten day African adventure! Cycle across lush highlands and vast open savannas and descend into the spectacular Rift Valley on this unmissable cycle challenge which includes a trip to one of our projects where you can see the difference your support makes. Departing from London on 26th November 2012 we’ll be cycling 400km from the foot of Mount Kenya to the shores of Lake Victoria- riding across the equator along the way! * The chance to see Zebras, Giraffes, Elephants, Antelopes and more in their natural habitat * Pass through some of the last remaining rainforest in East Africa and meet friendly local communities * Feel like a superhero as we complete the ascent of the Elgayo Escarpment! This incredible challenge is suitable for both experienced cyclists and those of average fitness (with training!) and everyone is welcome from individuals to teams of friends, colleagues or clients! Until the end of September egistration costs just £199 (£299 thereafter) and minimum sponsorship of £2700 is required. After 83km we reach the equator. Overnight stay at the Thomson's Fall Lodge. As the name suggests, there are waterfalls within the hotel complex. (98km) Day 4: Leave Nyahururu, heading into the Subkia Valley. Short transfer after lunch to Kabarnet on the eastern edge of the Kerio Valley. Overnight Kabarnet Hotel.(57km) Day 5: Cycle across the Kerio Valley. Reach the top of the hill to be rewarded with views across the Rift Valley. After lunch generally downhill to overnight stop in Eldoret. (93km) Day 6: First half of the day is spent on undulating tarmac roads through plantations and farms. After lunch we will cycle on a dirt track through villages and into the rainforest towards Kakamega. (98km) Day 7: Cycle with views of Lake Victoria to Kenya's third largest town, Kisumu for celebratory meal. (53km) Day 8: Transfer by road to Nairobi. Optional visit to Carnivore "Africa's greatest eating experience" and popular nightclub the Simba Saloon. Day 9: Half day optional tour to Nairobi National Park. Evening transfer to airport for overnight flight to the UK. Day 10: Arrive UK.
