Join hundreds of Hospice supporters for the largest sponsored bike ride in SE London – the Big Bike Ride on Sunday 2 October! The majority of the routes are off-road, and follow the Thames Cycle Path, which makes the Big Bike Ride popular for families, and other cyclists, who want to enjoy a lovely day cycling along the bank of the Thames. Even if you don’t have your own bike, you can still join the fun! The Hospice has teamed up with Now’s The Time, who’ll be offering adults’ and childrens’ bikes for hire for just £1 (plus £20 refundable deposit). All bike hire must be made in advance with Now’s The Time on 020 3828 4920, ntt@trust-thamesmead.co.uk or www.nttthamesmead.co.uk. Cyclists can choose which start point is most convenient: Erith, Greenwich, Woolwich, and, new for this year, Thamesmead. The start point at Thamesmere Leisure Centre will offer free parking, a free Dr Bike bike check (kindly provide free of charge from Greenwich Council), refreshments, toilets, plus the chance to have an instructor-led ride all the way to Greenwich and back. With a choice of distances, cyclists will be able to choose the route that suits them: 13, 14, 19 or 28 miles. Advance registration is £10 per adult, £5 per child (5-15 years), £25 per family (two adults and two children). Registration on the day is: £20 per adult, £5 per child. The generosity of our supporters means that the Hospice is able to provide specialist care services to 2,500 people in the Bexley and Greenwich boroughs each year. The registration fee covers the running of the event itself so we hope that you will consider raising as much sponsorship as possible. If every cyclist raised or donated £50 this would pay for one of our specialist nurses for a whole year.
