Pinnacle Peak 4.0 2008 Mountain Bike reviews

"This bike represents outstanding value for money with compnonents and specifications usually found at much higher price brackets. To give you some back ground I am a regular competition (local level) rider and always ride hard tail (love it or hate it is another debate!!) I usualy ride a cove hard tail with custom components but have been lent this pinnacle whilst I have my frame custom painted (can't wait to see the result!!) I can honestly say that the performance of this 600 bike is outstanding - yes I can tell the difference when I get on my cove but that cost nearly 3000 to build! This is a great effort by the guys at pinnacle to provide a bike that rides with a feeling of quality, comfort and the frame geometry gives great confidence during banked turns with the bike responding well to the rider and linking turns is a dream. The hydraulic disc brakes from shimano provide all the stopping power needed and the deore kit front and back is sweet as ever. One possible are to improve would be the front forks - They have perfomed well during the XC rides I have undertaken during my short (two week) time with the bike but feel if you wanted to compete with this bike you should consider upgrading because I am not sure they would stand up to the pressure of regular competative trail riding - this shouldn't be a problem for your average weekend enthusiast though. I would give this a 10 if the forks were upgraded but this could be a harsh critiscm given the keen price."
